Interesting Concepts on Marma Science Presented at the Inaugural and Valedictory Functions
- At these functions speakers included importants political personages, doctors, Vedic scholars and leading Sannyasis of the region.
- Divinity or Universal Energy was intimately connected with health and was specifically invoked in Indian scriptures as the Destroyer of disease and Giver of good health.
- Prana was generally equated with air or ether but actually this was the Universal Life Force. This resided in our individual self as well and Marma points were the sub-stations in our body of this Prana. When stimulated appropriately, they cured disease.
- Linked with these ideas was the other important point made of selfless service, not corrupted by commercial or other gains, as necessary for successful Marma Chikitsa.
- Despite the initial difficulties that it will face, Mrityunjay Mission will establish Marma Therapy as the therapy of the future, it was asserted.
The training course could broadly be divided into teaching, practical training and confidence-building.
The Teaching
This included lectures and demonstrations and covered the following areas:
- Historical background of Marma including Vedic Medical Sciences.
- Anatomy and Physiology and Location of Marma Points in the Body, and their therapeutic relevance to parts of the body and diseases.
- The relationship between Yogic practices and stimulation of Marma points was exposed. This included the effect of the above on health as well as spiritual gain.
- A routine of certain Yogic practices, Self-Marma practice and recitation of Mrityunjay Mantra was taught to the participants, to be practiced daily by them as a means of improving their capacity as a Marma Chikitsak.
- Precautions to be followed in administering Marma Chikitsa were also dealt with extensively.
